Many crops have played a role in the exploitative labour such as: tobacco, sugar, corn, indigo and rice.  However, cotton has managed to bear the brunt of slavery because of the greed that followed once Eli-Whitney's cotton-gin was invented in 1793.

    EXPERIENCE: •each student will be allowed to carefully pick/harvest 1 boll of cotton. •touch/feel multi-colored raw cotton fibers. •fun facts & his(her)story. •background on cotton origins.  •discuss cotton thorns. •uses of cotton today. •art display.  •planting multi-colored cotton.
